This new space at BHS is a further extension of our successful Partners Model that now incorporates an inclusive work environment for individuals with and without disabilities. It's also a great space for students and staff to relax and enjoy a tasty snack or beverage while getting some classwork done.

Partners Physical Education
The Partners Physical Education Class first began here at Baldwin High School during the 2002-2003 school year. Since its inception at Baldwin, the program has blossomed into other neighboring districts in a variety of ways. Other districts have started their own Partners Physical Education Classes or even taken concepts from our program to embed into their own similar programs.
As an extension of the Partners Physical Education Class, Baldwin has teamed up with a group of our neighboring school districts to bring together our Life Skills students to participate in either social or athletic activities on a recurring basis. The experiment first launched over 5 years ago with about 4 school districts participating a few times during the school year. The trend still continues to this day as we all take turns hosting everything from basketball, volleyball, or soccer tournaments to Christmas and Valentines Dances. We have now multiplied to as many as 20 school districts attending various events at a given time each month and have formed a group called Schools Together with Athletes Reaching Success (S.T.A.R.S.). As word has spread about our group's innovative endeavors, we continue to receive requests from new school districts who want to participate. Each event provides an excellent opportunity for the Life Skills students to socialize with newly made friends from neighboring districts, prepare for an upcoming competition with Special Olympics Events, or merely try something new they haven't tried before.
